Two years ago today The Magic Gang released their debut album The Magic Gang and two years later it's still one of my absolute favourite albums. So since it's the anniversary of it being released, I'm going to talk through the album start to finish and discuss what I like about each track!

The album opens up strongly with Oh, Saki - a fun and catchy song with a memorable tune. With its repeating lyrics throughout, its hard not to like! The song soon fades out and is followed by All This Way, one of the bands more well known tracks. It doesn't surprise me that this is one of their most popular releases, since it's one of those songs that needs to be played loud because of how joyous it is.
Opening with a guitar riff, next comes Getting Along - another song with extremely catchy lyrics and a fun fast-paced chorus. Personally this is one of, if not, my favourite song on the album and I'm really looking forward to hearing it live as I can just imagine the atmosphere being incredible. Alright comes next, a song I don't listen to as much as others but is definitely just as good.
At 4 minutes 15 seconds, Caroline is the longest track on the album. Unique would be a good word to describe this track as the song stays at quite a normal tone throughout yet at the chorus it picks up and almost gives off rock vibes. Another favourite of mine comes next, Jasmine. This was the first song I ever heard by the band so I think it will always have a special meaning to me since it's what got me into their music so long ago and made me the huge fan I am today.
Surprisingly, seven tracks in the album takes a slightly different turn. Take Care opens up with a piano playing, rather than a guitar which we've heard previously several times. While this song is quite different to the others on the album, I've always admired it and its poetic lyrics. Slippin' comes next, another one of my all time favourites. The harmonies throughout the song are just so lovely to listen to, as well as its bouncy chorus which automatically puts you in a good mood.
Your Love and How Can I Compete follow, being two of the more popular songs from the album. With the uplifting tune and memorable lyrics, it really is hard not to like these two. How Can I Compete also remains the bands most listened to song, with currently 9,895,805 streams!
At a slower pace than others, I'll Show You plays next - another song I don't listen to as much since I tend to prefer more sped up songs, but nevertheless this song and its lyrics are definitely worth a listen. As the pace quickens, up comes All That I Want Is You, another song with quite meaningful lyrics which may speak to a lot of people.
Last but not least, the album ends on quite a chill vibe with Fade Away. Again like others, it follows quite a catchy slow beat throughout then ends with a quick guitar solo.
I think to have an album consisting of a lot of joyous, quick tracks filled with endless guitar solo's to then end on quite a chilled out, almost patient song is quite refreshing. It shows that the band don't just stick to one genre, one technique. They branch out and experiment so not one of their songs sound the same - which I believe can be quite common these days.
The Magic Gang will be releasing their new album 'Death Of The Party' August 21st which you can pre-order from their website here:
